Os sinks de mensagens que usam IMessage podem ser colocados nas cadeias de sink do cliente ou nas cadeias de sink do servidor. Um objeto de mensagem é passado de sumidouro de mensagens para sumidouro de mensagens através da cadeia, e transporta um conjunto de propriedades nomeadas, como identificadores de ação, informação de enviado e parâmetros.
Um objeto que implementa a IMessage interface cumpre os requisitos mínimos para ser considerado um objeto mensagem. O objeto exato recebido por um sumidouro de mensagens não tem de ser passado para o sumidouro seguinte, mas isso é frequentemente o caso.
Embora os objetos no saco de propriedades não tenham de ser serializáveis, o implementador do dissipador de mensagens precisa de considerar isto, uma vez que as propriedades que saem do domínio da aplicação devem ser serializáveis.
