Observações

HRESULT é um valor de 32 bits, dividido em três campos diferentes: um código de gravidade, um código de instalação e um código de erro. O código de gravidade indica se o valor de retorno representa informação, aviso ou erro. O código da instalação identifica a área do sistema responsável pelo erro. O código de erro é um número único atribuído para representar a exceção. Cada exceção é mapeada para um HRESULT distinto. Quando o código gerido lança uma exceção, o tempo de execução passa o HRESULT para o cliente COM. Quando o código não gerido devolve um erro, o HRESULT é convertido numa exceção, que é então lançada pelo tempo de execução. A partir do .NET Framework 4.5, o setter da propriedade HResult está protegido, enquanto o seu getter é público. Em versões anteriores do .NET Framework, tanto o getter como o setter estavam protegidos.
