I had an Office 2016 LTSC active suite. I recently upgraded to Office 2024 LTSC and all components work OK. My account however, is still saying that Office 2016 is activated and the Excel software is saying it is unlicensed. All other office components work without that message, but my activated Office is still 2016. What do I need to do to resolve this issue.

    Hi once again Henry-N,

A couple of points I would like to make. Although I believed I had Office LTSC 2024; which I just thought was a new name for the product, my software makes no mention of LTSC. It only shows 2024. What is the difference between 2024 LTSC and 2024? When I downloaded the software from the Microsoft site, I was under the impression I was upgrading from Office 2016 to Office 2024 and that my purchase of Office 2016 provided upgrades for the software that I own. I'm not sure where the LTSC comes into this, as to my knowledge; there was no 2016 LTSC when I originally got Office 2016. I simply want the upgraded version of Office 2024, not Office 2024 LTSC, if they are different products. I get then impression that you are saying I have purchased something more; however I did not. I simply downloaded the new version as I was told to do, when I contacted Microsoft. How can you assist me in this?

    Thank you,

    Joe

    Hi again Henry-N,

Yes, the account does still say 2016 is activated, for all the applications. So if that is the problem, how do I get the key for this upgrade. My understanding is that if I had a license for 2016, I could upgrade to 2024.. I attach the screen shot as requested.

    Thank you,

    Hi Henry-N,

Below are the instructions I used from the Microsoft site:

    Deploy Office LTSC 2024

    Summarize this article for me

To configure and deploy Office LTSC 2024, including Project and Visio, within your organization, you'll use the Office Deployment Tool (ODT). The ODT provides flexibility and control, allowing you to customize and manage installations according to your specific needs.

The installation files for Office LTSC 2024 are available on the Office Content Delivery Network (CDN) on the internet. You can install Office LTSC 2024 directly from the Office CDN. Or, you can download the installation files from the Office CDN to a location on your local network, such as a shared folder, and install Office LTSC 2024 from that location. You can use different methods for different sets of devices in your organization. Whichever method you choose, you use the ODT.

Installing directly from the Office CDN requires the least amount of administrative effort and is recommended. However, you might have constraints that prevent you from installing directly from the internet. For example, some devices might not have connectivity to the internet, or you might have limited bandwidth to the internet.

Here are the basic steps for deploying Office LTSC 2024:

    1. Download the Office Deployment Tool from the Microsoft Download Center
    2. Create the configuration.xml file
    3. Download the Office LTSC 2024 installation files (Optional, if you're not installing directly from the Office CDN.)
    4. Install Office LTSC 2024 by using the Office Deployment Tool
