How do I turn off fn lock?

My volume and brightness keys aren't controlling my volume and brightness. I know it has something to do with my fn key, because when I hold my fn key and press the volume or brightness, they do what they are supposed to do. How do I turn off the fn lock? I looked it up and tried holding down esc and fn, caps lock and fn and alt and fn but none of them worked. What do I do?

If you have a laptop from Lenovo and it has the Lenovo Vantage app installed, check all your systems/updates. It should be an app. There should be a section to click on device settings > input > scroll to FnLock and turn it on.

I've been having the same issues where my Esc, Tab and 1 have completely stopped working, and I'm not too sure what to do, so I'm forced to hold down the Fn button to decrease/increase the sound and brightness. Figuring this out helped me a ton without having to hold down the Fn button, as the Fn stays locked now.

I have a Omnibook X and I had this problem for about a week, and alot of these anwsers didnt work for me. I realized you kinda have to look at your own keyboard. There should be at least one key that says "FN LOCK" in little letters (mines on my shift key.)

Just hold down the FN key and then press the "FN LOCK" key (shift for me.)

    Hope this helps.

I am a user, on my HP laptop, this worked fine,

to change the action key setting from the BIOS Setup Utility.

    1. While booting the computer press the f10 key in quick successions to open the BIOS Setup Utility.

    2. Press the right or left arrow key to select the System Configuration menu.

    3. Press the up or down arrow key to select Action Keys Mode.

4.Press the enter key to display the Enabled / Disabled options.

5.Press the up or down arrow key to select one of the options.

o   Enabled: Does not require pressing fn to use the actions printed on the function keys.

o   Disabled: Requires pressing fn to use the actions printed on the function keys.

    6. Press the f10 key to save the selection and restart the computer.

With this I am able to use the F1-F12 keys (F1-help, F2-edit mode, F12-save as etc,) independently without Fn. Other functionalities such as volume control, brightness control, keyboard light control, etc., work with fn.
