I ett Win32-baserat eller Windows Forms-program är en meddelandeloop en rutin i kod som bearbetar användarhändelser, till exempel musklickningar och tangentbordsdrag. Varje program som körs Windows kräver en aktiv meddelandeloop som kallas huvudmeddelandeloopen. När huvudmeddelandeloopen stängs avslutas programmet. De flesta Windows Forms utvecklare behöver inte använda den här versionen av metoden. Exemplet visar två formulär och avslutar programmet när båda formulären stängs. När programmet startar och avslutar sparas positionen för varje formulär. I följande kodexempel visas siffror i en listruta i ett formulär. Varje gång du klickar lägger button1programmet till ytterligare ett tal i listan.

Metoden Main anropar Run för att starta programmet, vilket skapar formuläret, listBox1, och button1. Normalt anropar huvudfunktionen i ett program den här metoden och skickar den till huvudfönstret i programmet.

Den här metoden lägger till en händelsehanterare i parametern mainFormClosed för händelsen. Händelsehanteraren anropar ExitThread för att rensa programmet.
