Voorbeelden
In het volgende voorbeeld ziet u een methode voor het maken van een pijpserver die kan reageren op meerdere gelijktijdige clientaanvragen en een methode voor clientimitatie. In dit voorbeeld wordt een NamedPipeServerStream object gemaakt in een bovenliggend proces, waarmee vervolgens meerdere threads worden gemaakt die wachten tot NamedPipeClientStream objecten verbinding maken. Nadat een client is verbonden, wordt er een bestandsnaam aan de server geleverd en worden de inhoud van dat bestand gelezen en teruggestuurd naar de client. Omdat de NamedPipeServerStream client zich voordoet bij het openen van het bestand, kan de client alleen bestanden aanvragen met voldoende machtigingen om te openen.

Opmerkingen
De machtigingen van de client worden toegepast op de externe server. Als de verbinding makende client bijvoorbeeld probeert de inhoud van een bestand op de server aan te vragen, kan de client alleen bestanden aanvragen die voldoende machtigingen hebben om te openen.
Op Windows wordt alleen de thread bijgewerkt die wordt gebruikt voor het uitvoeren van de gemachtigde om de client te imiteren. Op andere platforms imiteren alle threads van het bovenliggende proces de client wanneer RunAsClient deze wordt aangeroepen. Dit gedrag is van invloed op servers met meerdere threads, zoals in het voorbeeld dat wordt weergegeven.
