Cannot add new Remote Desktop App. Application shows up in the collection, but does not show up in RD Web Access.

I've tried to add a new remote desktop application to our server using a script which has worked in the past. It now returns the following error:

Unable to update the properties for session collection AppServerName_C on the RD Connection Broker server.

  • CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [Write-Error], RDManagementException
  • FullyQualifiedErrorId : PublishRemoteApps,Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.WriteErrorCommand
  • PSComputerName : localhost

Could not create a published application instance on the server AWSELabsAppX13.surveyor.com.

  • CategoryInfo : InvalidResult: (:) [], WorkflowTerminatedException
  • FullyQualifiedErrorId : JobStateFailed
  • PSComputerName : localhost

I'm also finding that if I try to manually publish an application, like Calculator, via "Publish RemoteApp Programs", I get an error in the Status "Failed: Could not create a published application instance on the server AppServerName.mydomain.com

Note in the above, AppServerName is the real name of the server, and mydomain.com is the domain of the server.

The strange thing, is that after getting that error, Calculator shows up under RemoteApp Programs for the collection, and although it says "Yes" under "Visible in RD Web Access", it is not.

Additionally, if I try to edit anything about the "published" calculator app, I get the error "Could not create a published application instance on the server AppServerName.mydomain.com", but then the edit appears to have worked when I look in the collection.

All existing applications are working. Not sure what else to do at this point.

    I had the same problem.

The SSL certificate was updated on IIS server but it was expired on RDS.

    Exported PFX from IIS.
Imported in RDS for each role and all started working again.
