deleted passwords

Deleted passwords in Microsoft Edge cannot be recovered once they have been cleared from browsing data or removed from the saved passwords list.

When passwords are deleted, they are removed from the device and, if sync is turned on, from synced devices as well. The Edge documentation lists Passwords as a type of browsing data that can be deleted, and this removal is not reversible.

Possible next steps:

1. Check if the passwords might still exist in another password store:
   • Windows Credential Manager (Windows Web Credentials). See the guidance under Microsoft account recovery for accessing Credential Manager.
   • Other browsers or password managers previously used.
2. If the passwords were used for signing in to a Microsoft account and that account password is forgotten, use the Microsoft account recovery process as described in the account recovery help article.
3. For future protection, consider exporting passwords from Edge to a CSV file before making bulk changes, as described in the autofill/password export guidance.
