Hi All, Today my Windows 11 computer has stopped caching files to onedrive and on attempting to sign in indicates that I have no network access (code 0x800704) but I do have network access. I've tried re-starting onedrive, uninstalling and re-installing, and unlinking but with no success. Internet is working fine and I can access my one drive files via Google.

    Hello Mick Bean,

I understand that you are having issue with OneDrive Sign-In on Windows 11. I truly understand how you feel. Let me assist you go through this situation.

Based on your description, when your internet is clearly working and OneDrive suddenly reports “no network access” (0x800704). I suggest you try these steps:

    Solution 1: Reset OneDrive completely

This clears corrupted sign‑in and network cache.

    1. Press Windows + R
    2. Paste this and select OK
         %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

      1. Wait 1–2 minutes (the icon may disappear)
      2. Open Start, type OneDrive, and open it
      3. Sign in again

Resetting OneDrive does not delete your files—they remain safe online

Solution 2: Delete the corrupted sign‑in config file

This directly addresses sign‑in/network detection failures.

    1. Press Windows + R
    2. Paste:
         %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\settings

    3. Delete PreSignInSettingsConfig.json
    4. Restart OneDrive
    5. Sign in again

Solution 3: Check proxy & VPN settings

OneDrive does not work with authenticated proxies and may falsely show “no network”.

    1. Open Settings
    2. Go to Network & Internet > Proxy
    3. Turn Use a proxy server = Off
    4. Disconnect any VPN
    5. Restart OneDrive

Solution 4: Ensure Windows & OneDrive are fully updated

Outdated builds can break OneDrive’s network detection.

    1. Open Settings > Windows Update
    2. Install all updates
    3. Restart the PC
    4. Download and install the latest OneDrive app
    5. Sign in again

Solution 5: Reinstall OneDrive cleanly (last resort)

Use this only if the reset didn’t work.

    1. Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps
    2. Uninstall Microsoft OneDrive
    3. Restart the PC
    4. Download and install OneDrive again
    5. Sign in

Reinstalling OneDrive does not remove your cloud files.

I hope this will help with your situation. Please feel free to reach back if you have further update or more questions.

    Best Regards,
