Open the old Control Panel, not the Settings app.

At the top of the old Control Panel, set View to large icons.

Open the Programs and Features applet.

Click 'Turn Windows Features on or off' on the left side.

In the resulting list, enable 'Microsoft Print to PDF', or if it is already enabled, disable it, restart (not shut down) your PC and then re-enable 'Microsoft Print to PDF'.

In Windows 11, Microsoft Print to PDF is not added through the Add Printer Driver Wizard list of “Microsoft” drivers. It is installed and managed as an optional Windows feature and then appears automatically as a printer.

Use this path instead of the driver list shown in the screenshot:

    1. Open SettingsSystemOptional features.
    2. Select View features.
    3. In the search box, type Microsoft Print to PDF.
    4. Check Microsoft Print to PDF, then select Add and let Windows install it.
    5. After installation, go to SettingsBluetooth & devicesPrinters & scanners and confirm that Microsoft Print to PDF is listed as a printer.

If the printer is missing after adding the feature, remove the feature the same way, restart Windows, then add it again.

The Add Printer Driver Wizard is intended for installing vendor printer drivers from disk or Windows Update and does not control the built‑in Microsoft Print to PDF feature, so the driver will not appear in that list.
