Troubleshooting browser crashes or performance issues on Windows 11
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Whenever I play games such as roblox, fortnite, or use edge, the keyboard always pops up! It is so annoying, especially because I never use controller, so there should be a way to toggle it on and off in settings. Also, I know this is pretty unrealistic, but if you could add other search engines, specifically chrome, as edge is very slow, especially on my Xbox s. If you made it easier to use web browser s, I could use the Xbox as a sort of PC, being able to do my homework on it instead of my trashy school provided laptop. Thank you!
Troubleshooting browser crashes or performance issues on Windows 11
Hi Alex Farrell,
Thank you for sharing your experience and taking the time to explain how this affects your day‑to‑day use of Xbox Series S. Your feedback highlights some important usability considerations.
On Xbox consoles, the on‑screen keyboard is designed to appear automatically whenever text input is detected. This behavior helps ensure consistent access to text entry across games, apps, and the system interface, regardless of the input method being used. While a physical keyboard can be connected, the virtual keyboard may still appear in certain scenarios, including games and web browsing.
Regarding web browsing, Xbox currently supports Microsoft Edge as the built‑in browser. This version of Edge is optimized for console use and focuses on compatibility and accessibility within the Xbox environment. As a result, some desktop‑style features (such as alternative browsers or full PC‑like workflows) aren’t available in the same way they are on a traditional computer.
Your ideas around keyboard control and broader browser flexibility are thoughtful and reflect how people want to use their devices more productively. Please consider sharing this feedback through Xbox Insider Hub app (system built-in on Xbox consoles) to ensure it reaches the right teams and helps shape future improvements.
I appreciate you speaking up and hope this information helps clarify what’s currently supported.
If you have any further questions or updates regarding this issue, please feel free to let me know in the Comments section. I'd be happy to assist you.

On Xbox consoles, Microsoft Edge is the built-in browser and cannot be replaced as the system default with Chrome or other desktop browsers. The platform does not support installing Google Chrome as a native browser on Xbox, and Edge remains the default.
