    Hi @Rayleighn Codner

Thank you for reaching out and sharing the error code that you encountered in new Outlook. To make sure I give you the best and most accurate solution, I'll need a little more detail about what you're experiencing. This will help me quickly identify the root of the problem.

    • A full wording of the error message that includes 0x80070057 since this error can be triggered by different things in Outlook
    • Check whether the same issue also occurs in Outlook on the web for the same mailbox. This is to determine whether the problem is Outlook app related or account related.

In the meantime, please try the steps below in this order:

    1. Check mailbox and Microsoft cloud storage

In new Outlook, navigate to settings > Accounts > Storage. If Microsoft cloud storage is full, you may not be able to send or receive email in new Outlook.

    1. Force a manual sync in new Outlook

In new Outlook, go to View and select Sync, then watch for the sync status at the bottom of the message list.

    1. Check Outlook for a blocking message or large attachment

Open Outlook and start with the oldest stuck message. If it includes a large attachment, remove the attachment and try sending again. Large attachments can prevent a message from sending and can also block subsequent messages.

    1. Run the Inbox Repair Tool (ScanPST)
    • Shut down Outlook.
    • Track down ScanPST.exe in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16.
    • Launch it, click “Browse,” and find your PST file in C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook.
    • Hit “Start” to scan, then “Repair” if it spots trouble.

Please understand that my initial response may not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

If you have any questions or need additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out so I can continue to support you.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. I look forward to continuing the conversation.

Error 0x80070057 in Outlook can occur for different reasons. One documented cause is when Outlook cannot download the Offline Address Book (OAB) because the Exchange server is configured incorrectly.

In Outlook 2013 and later, including new Outlook for Windows, this error appears if the Exchange server is set to distribute the Offline Address Book only via Public Folders. These Outlook versions do not support downloading the OAB from Public Folders and require web-based distribution instead.

Resolution steps (to be done by the Exchange administrator):

    1. Configure the Exchange server to publish the Offline Address Book using web-based distribution (not Public Folder distribution only).
    2. Ensure the Autodiscover service is correctly configured in the Exchange organization so Outlook can locate the web-based OAB distribution.
    3. After the server-side configuration is corrected, restart Outlook and try sending/receiving again; the OAB should download successfully and the 0x80070057 error should no longer appear.

If using a hosted or corporate Exchange environment, contact the Exchange or Microsoft 365 administrator and provide the error details, asking them to verify OAB web-based distribution and Autodiscover configuration.
