You could possibly try these steps:
- Enable File System Permissions
Go to Settings > Privacy & security > File system.
Ensure File system access is toggled On.
Scroll down to the list of apps and ensure Microsoft Photos is toggled On.
- Add the Folder as a "Source"
Open the Photos app.
Select the Settings (gear icon) in the top right corner.
Under the Sources section, click Add a folder.
Select the folder where your images are stored. Once indexed, the navigation arrows should appear.
- Repair or Reset the Application
If the application's internal database is corrupted, it may fail to transition between files even within indexed folders.
Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
Find Microsoft Photos, click the three dots (...), and select Advanced options.
Scroll down and click Repair. If the issue persists, return here and click Reset (Note: Resetting will not delete your photos).
