Our company purchased perpetual licenses for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central On-Premises and LS Central. We would like to confirm whether the system can continue to be used legally without renewing the Enhancement Plan (maintenance).

    Hi Bùi Xuân Giáp,

You can legally continue operating your perpetual Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central On-Premises environment without renewing your Business Ready Enhancement Plan. Letting your maintenance agreement lapse does not violate Microsoft licensing terms, as your perpetual purchase grants you the legal right to run the software indefinitely. Your existing license .flf file remains completely valid and active for your current server configuration, installed modules, and existing user count.

However, your system will be permanently locked to its current release. You will lose access to the PartnerSource Business Center portal, meaning you can no longer download newly generated license keys, future product updates, critical security hotfixes, or regulatory tax compliance releases. Lapsing also completely restricts your ability to scale the infrastructure. Microsoft licensing policies prevent you from purchasing additional user CALs, adding new software objects, or expanding your current system footprint without an active enhancement plan.

Should your business requirements change later, reinstating the plan requires paying all lapsed maintenance fees retroactively alongside a standard Microsoft reinstatement penalty. Furthermore, because LS Central is an independent software vendor solution, you must confirm directly with LS Retail that their proprietary licensing model does not disable specific point-of-sale features or impose operational lockouts when their separate maintenance agreement expires.

Hope this answer brought you some useful information. If it did, please hit "accept answer". Should you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment.
