I sent an invitation to a family member to join my Microsoft 365 Family Subscription. He received the email but is unable to join. The message on his computer says "Please ask the organizer to go to the Subscriptions tab on account.microsoft.com and click on Start Sharing for you. I have done this multiple times and it never works. He has a personal account that has not expired, is this why this is happening?

Hi! Sorry to hear about this situation. He should first sign in to account.microsoft.com/services and check whether he currently has a Microsoft 365 subscription that is active or has a past-due balance. If so, he will not be able to join the shared subscription yet. He would need to either cancel the subscription, or if there is an outstanding balance, pay it first and then cancel it before he can join the shared plan.
