Deactivate Windows Server 2025

I purchased a license for server 2025. I have been working to build the server. I built one originally with a supermicro motherboard and the board had issues and is now junk. I could not deactivate the product key before that motherboard had issues. I have built another system and I am trying to use the server 2025 key, but it will not activate because the key is linked to the other system.

Can you help to get the key to work again?

The product key is blocked because it is still associated with the original hardware. Reuse on new hardware in this situation cannot be fixed locally; it must be handled by Microsoft’s activation and licensing support.

To proceed, contact the Microsoft Licensing Activation Centers and request reactivation of the Windows Server 2025 key on the new hardware. Explain that the original motherboard failed and could not be deactivated, and provide the key and any proof of purchase they request. They can review the activation history and, if eligible, reset or reissue activation so the key can be used on the replacement server.

If the error code shown during activation is one of the standard activation errors (for example, grace period expired or no product key available), the Licensing Activation Centers are also the escalation path documented for resolving those cases.
