Cannot delete Azure SQL Database due to “orphaned” Data Sync metadata

Hi support,

I'm trying to delete an Azure SQL database but the delete operation is failing as per attached screenshots.

This Azure SQL database was used as a sync metadata database (Hub) and it appears that the backend still has sync groups and/or sync agents associated with it. In the corresponding SQL database section “Sync to other databases,” the Sync Group/Sync Agents blades are stuck loading and not progressing.

I've also tried listing the Sync Groups\Members via AZ rest api but receive an 504 GatewayTimeout error

How can this be resolved?

Thanks in advance,
Nick

    Hello Nikolaos Chatzinikolaou

Following our discussion, initially you were unable to drop the azure SQL database due to the sync group and member are still in active state.

In further analysis, our engineering team attempted to drop the sync group and member.

I kindly request you to please delete the azure SQL database from your end and to let us know the update.
