Thank you so much for getting back to me @Balaji Veeraraghavan!

I’d like to ask you to go through a few basic troubleshooting steps first. First, please make sure Teams is completely closed. You can do this by right‑clicking the Teams icon on your taskbar and selecting Quit.

After that, try disconnecting your Work or School account. You can open Settings, go to Accounts, then Access work or school, and if your work account appears there, select it and choose Disconnect.

Once that’s done, head over to the Control Panel, open User Accounts, then Credential Manager, and under Windows Credentials, remove anything that’s tied to this account.

    User's image

Next, press Win + R, and one at a time paste the following paths, then delete everything inside each folder:

    %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneAuth
    %localappdata%\Microsoft\IdentityCache

When you're done with that, try clearing the Teams cache again following the steps in Microsoft’s guide: Clear the Teams client cache - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn

Once everything is cleaned up, restart your computer and open Teams again to see if things work properly.

Please give these steps a try and let me know how it goes. I’m genuinely looking forward to hearing back from you so we can sort this out together.

    Hi,

This is a business/organizational account provided by my workplace.

The account is no longer active as we have moved to a different MS Teams account, and this one is no longer usable.

I tried removing the cache as suggested in many forums. Still the same issue when i start Teams app. Please advise.

    Thanks,

    Hi @Balaji Veeraraghavan,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

To better understand what’s happening on your side, could you please share a screenshot showing exactly where you’re trying to remove the inactive account? For example, are you attempting to remove it from the Teams application, or somewhere else?

It would also be helpful to know why the account is no longer active, how you tried to remove it, and whether you’re seeing any error messages or prompts during the process.

Additionally, since the original channel tag didn’t specify the account type, could you clarify whether the account you’re referring to is a business/organizational account (such as one provided by your company or school) or a personal Microsoft account?

Once I have a bit more information, I’ll be able to understand your situation more clearly and suggest the most appropriate next steps. If you have any updates or additional details, please feel free to leave a comment under this post. I’ll be more than happy to continue assisting you.

Thank you again for your time, and I look forward to your reply!
