I cant login to visual studio marketplace site

Hey,

I have a publisher and i can login to market place now:

https://marketplace.visualstudio.com.mcas.ms/

i have the email and password, but after login the site goes back to the same page and i'm not logged it.

I tried with phone, windows and macos and i have the same issue.

How to login?

This issue is not related to your credentials or device. The problem occurs because you are accessing the Visual Studio Marketplace via the .mcas.ms URL, which is a Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps (MCAS) / Conditional Access proxy.

When Marketplace authentication is routed through this proxy, sign‑in cookies may not be persisted correctly, causing the page to redirect back to the login screen. This behavior can reproduce across all devices and browsers.

Resolution: Please sign in directly using the standard Marketplace URL: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/

Also ensure you are using the correct Microsoft account or Entra ID that owns the publisher. If your organization enforces Conditional Access policies, the Marketplace may need to be excluded from MCAS session control.

If the issue continues after signing in from the standard domain, please contact Visual Studio Marketplace Support to verify the publisher account status.

Still the issue not fixed. what do you think is the issue?

When your sign‑in is redirected to *.access.mcas.ms, it means your Microsoft account is governed by a tenant that enforces MCAS session control. In this scenario, authentication cookies are not persisted correctly, so Visual Studio Marketplace redirects back to the login page even though credentials are valid. This reproduces across all browsers and devices.

How to resolve this:

If possible, sign in using a personal Microsoft account (MSA) that owns the publisher. Personal accounts are not routed through MCAS and work correctly with Marketplace.

If the publisher must remain under an organizational (Entra ID) account, your tenant administrator must exclude Visual Studio Marketplace from MCAS / Conditional Access session control.

Also verify that you are signing in with the exact account that owns the publisher, as MSA vs Entra ID mismatches can trigger this issue.

Unfortunately, this cannot be resolved from the client side. If you don’t have access to change tenant policies, please work with your organization’s IT admin or contact Visual Studio Marketplace Support to review the publisher account setup.

At this point, the root cause has been clearly identified and confirmed. Your sign‑in is being enforced through Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps (MCAS) / Conditional Access, which is indicated by the redirect to *.access.mcas.ms. When this policy is applied, Visual Studio Marketplace is unable to persist authentication cookies, resulting in a continuous login loop even though authentication itself succeeds.

This is a tenant‑level Conditional Access behavior, not a Visual Studio Marketplace defect and not related to credentials. This is why the issue:

Occurs across all devices and browsers

Persists after clearing cache or reinstalling

Cannot be resolved by Marketplace support alone

There are currently only two supported ways to resolve this:

Use a personal Microsoft account (MSA) to own the publisher Personal accounts are not routed through MCAS and can sign in successfully.

Work with your Entra ID administrator to exclude Visual Studio Marketplace from:

Conditional Access Session Control

Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps (MCAS)

Your administrator can confirm this block in Entra ID → Sign‑in logs, where it typically appears as BlockedByConditionalAccess.

Unfortunately, there is no client‑side workaround for this behavior. Once the tenant policy is adjusted—or an MSA is used—the sign‑in will work immediately.

It's not fixed.

Support didn't help so far.
