    Shut down completely

    Hold Volume Up

    Press and release Power

Keep holding Volume Up until UEFI appears

If, Works in UEFI → Windows/driver issue

Doesn’t work in UEFI → Firmware or hardware issue

If it works in UEFI then it's a Driver issue.

    Open Device Manager

Expand: Keyboards, Mice, Human Interface Devices

    Uninstall:

    Surface Type Cover

    HID Keyboard Device

    HID-compliant touchpad

Surface Integration Service (if listed under System Devices)

Check the box: Delete driver software if available.

    Then:

    Shut down

    Detach keyboard

    Wait 30 seconds

    Reattach and power on

Open Control Panel > Power Options

    Choose what power buttons do

    Change settings currently unavailable

    Uncheck Turn on fast startup

    Restart

If your keyboard is connecting to the Surface Pro but not functioning properly, there are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Check for Debris: Sometimes, debris under the keys can cause issues. Use compressed air to blow under the affected keys and wipe them with a slightly damp microfiber cloth.
    2. Test with an External Keyboard: If you have access to an external keyboard, try connecting it to see if it works. If the external keyboard functions correctly, it may indicate a hardware issue with your Surface keyboard.
    3. Safe Mode: Boot your Surface Pro in Safe Mode to determine if a third-party application is interfering with the keyboard functionality. If the keyboard works in Safe Mode, a third-party app may be the cause.
    4. Update Drivers: Ensure that all drivers are up to date. You can check for updates in the Windows Update settings or download the latest drivers from the Microsoft website.
    5. Disable Fast Startup: Some users have reported that disabling Fast Startup in the Control Panel can resolve keyboard issues.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to consider contacting Microsoft Support for further assistance.
