Outlook for Mac crashing with simple tasks

since the most recent update (16.106) Outlook crashes with the most simple tasks - that is, writing an email. This seems to happen when I am replying to emails, not when I am writing a new email. Make it stop.

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum. I understand Outlook for Mac began crashing after the most recent update (16.106), mainly when replying (not when composing a new email). I am happy to assist you. Please switch back to Legacy Outlook when the new Outlook experience is causing problems. In Outlook for Mac, go to Help > Revert to Legacy Outlook. In additional, please also:

    • Install the newest Outlook build via Microsoft’s Mac update packages
    • Check Microsoft’s “known issues / workarounds” hub for Outlook for Mac
    • Open a support case from inside Outlook for Mac and attach logs (if the crash persists after steps 1–3)
      • Use Help > Contact Support in Outlook for Mac. Allow log collection (Select Continue), then enter your details and start the conversation.

If Outlook for Mac is crashing when replying to emails after the recent update, you may want to try a few troubleshooting steps:

    1. Update Outlook: Ensure that you are using the latest version of Outlook for Mac. Check for updates and install any available updates.
    2. Reset Preferences: Sometimes, resetting your preferences can help resolve crashing issues. You can do this by deleting the preferences files for Outlook.
    3. Safe Mode: Try starting Outlook in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. This can help identify if the problem is caused by add-ins.
    4. Reinstall Outlook: If the problem continues, consider uninstalling and then reinstalling Outlook to ensure a clean installation.
    5. Check for Conflicting Software: Ensure that there are no other applications or services that might be conflicting with Outlook.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to reach out to Microsoft Support for further assistance.
