Our team was using Co pilot strongly in all the chats it does a lot of work for us and help us get step by step instruction to a team member and help us draft emails and messages and communications But for the past few days we are not able to tag copilot since yesterday the owner of the team the admin was able to tag copilot but none of the team members were able to tag it But today none of the members as well as the admin have the ability to tag copilot

    Hi @Kane Lewis,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you very much for reaching out regarding the issue your team is experiencing with tagging @Copilot in Microsoft Teams. I appreciate you sharing the details of how your team uses Copilot daily for instructions, drafting communications, and improving workflow efficiency.

This behavior most commonly happens due to changes in Copilot for Microsoft 365 licensing that remove users’ access, the Copilot app being blocked or restricted within the Teams Admin Center through app permissions or accidental configuration updates, custom Teams App Permission Policies that limit who can use Copilot, or tenant‑level Search & Intelligence settings where Copilot may have been disabled for specific groups or for the entire organization.

To help your team restore access to @Copilot in Microsoft Teams, I recommend asking your administrator to review the following areas in detail.

    Please follow the steps below:

1/ Verify that all affected users have an active Copilot for Microsoft 365 license

    Please ensure that:

    • Each user including the admin still has an active Copilot for Microsoft 365 license assigned.
    • Licenses have not expired, been unassigned, or been replaced with a license that does not include Copilot capabilities.
    • In the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, your admin can open Users > Active users > select a user > Licenses and apps to confirm.
    • User's image

If the license is missing or expired, the user will immediately lose the ability to use @Copilot in Teams, even if it was working previously.

2/ Verify that the Copilot app is allowed and not blocked by Teams app policies

In Teams Admin Center > Teams apps > Manage apps:

A - Search for “Copilot” and confirm the app status is Unblocked (not Blocked).

    • If your organization uses an Allow List or scoped availability, ensure Copilot is explicitly included or available to the appropriate user groups.
    • User's image

B - Review the policy or access configuration assigned to your members and the admin. Confirm that:

    • Microsoft apps remain allowed under your organization’s app permission configuration.
    • Copilot is not listed under any “Blocked apps” or restricted categories.
    • If your organization uses “Allowed apps only” mode or scoped assignment, Copilot must be explicitly included or assigned to Everyone (or the correct security groups).
    • User's image

If the app was blocked or a restrictive permission policy was recently applied, access might be removed gradually as the policy propagates matching the behavior your team observed.

    3/ Contact Microsoft Support

If this issue is urgent and directly impacting your team’s productivity, I strongly recommend reaching out to your IT department and asking them to open a support ticket with Microsoft Technical Support through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. They have access to system-level diagnostics and can investigate the problem more thoroughly. At the very least, they can provide the most effective workaround to ensure your experience remains smooth and secure.

We kindly ask for your understanding that, as moderators, we do not have access to the administrative tools or permissions required to investigate or modify these configurations. We also do not have the capability to initiate remote sessions for direct assistance. Our role is to guide users to the appropriate resources and support channels.

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.

when copilot vanishes from @mentions, it’s usually the team’s app-scope slipping off in the backend.

re‑enable it under Manage apps → Permissions… that’s the only spot where the mention path gets wired back in.
