My Microsoft Surface Pro 8 will not charge

For the last week my Surface Pro 8, initially would only start on power and the battery status shows charging but always at 0%. It would then turn off randomly.

This week, since I assume some of the recent Microsoft Updates have been automatically downloaded, it still only starts on power and the battery status shows charging but always at 0%, but now it does not turn off randomly. But if I close and pull the power, it dies.

Anyone having same/similar problem?

I am assuming the battery is the problem, but with all the recent Microsoft update issues, cannot rle that out as a possibe culprit.

It sounds like you are experiencing issues with your Surface Pro 8's battery and charging system. Here are a few things to consider:

    1. Battery Status: If your device shows that it is charging but remains at 0%, it could indicate a problem with the battery itself. The battery may not be holding a charge or could be failing.
    2. Recent Updates: While updates can sometimes cause issues, they are less likely to affect the hardware functionality like charging. However, if you suspect that a recent update might be causing problems, you could consider rolling back the update or checking for any additional updates that might address the issue.
    3. Charging Process: Ensure that the charger you are using is functioning properly. If possible, try using a different charger to see if that resolves the issue. Additionally, check the charging port for any debris or damage that could be affecting the connection.
    4. Surface Diagnostic Toolkit: Running the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit can help identify any issues with your device. This tool can run diagnostics to ensure everything is functioning as expected before proceeding with further troubleshooting.
    5. Battery Replacement: If the battery is indeed the problem, you may need to consider a battery replacement. Battery authentication requires a stable internet connection and the latest version of the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit, as mentioned in the battery replacement process documentation.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, reaching out to Microsoft Support may be necessary for further assistance.
