The sound on my new ideapad 5 pro pc is extremely muffled in whatever app I use and in volume 96 I strain to hear voices, even though the ambient sound is much louder but it still has bad quality. What should I do?

Hi! Let me help you with this issue.

May I know when this problem started happening?

Please follow the steps below to get this problem fixed.

Please hover your mouse over the sound icon at the lower right-hand corner, then right-click it and click Troubleshoot Sound. Let the troubleshooter finish its task, then this should either resolve the problem or display an error message.

If that doesn't work, we need to remove the Audio driver from the Device Manager and restart the PC to reinstall it.

Here are the steps to completely remove a Device from your computer.

Step 1. Use shortcut keys Windows key + X.

    Step 2. Select Device Manager.

Step 3. Expand the entry Sound, Video, and Game Controllers. Right-click the problematic device, which is either Realtek Audio, or AMD High-definition Audio, or High-Definition Audio, depending on the audio device installed in your PC, and select Uninstall device.

Step 4. You need to check the option Delete the driver software for this device and then click the Uninstall button.

    Step 5. Reboot the computer.

After the reboot, please see if the problem is fixed.

If that still does not work, please visit the support website of your laptop or desktop and then download and install the latest Audio driver then restart the PC.

If the sound on your Ideapad 5 Pro is extremely muffled, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Check Audio Output Settings: Ensure that the correct audio output device is selected in your system settings. Sometimes, the wrong device may be set as the default.
    2. Adjust Volume Levels: Verify that both the system volume and the application volume are set to appropriate levels. If your system supports app-specific volume settings, make sure they are not set too low.
    3. Update Audio Drivers: Outdated or corrupted audio drivers can lead to poor sound quality. Visit the device manufacturer's website to download and install the latest audio drivers for your system model.
    4. Run Audio Troubleshooter: Use the built-in audio troubleshooter in Windows. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters and run the audio troubleshooter to identify and fix issues.
    5. Check for Background Noise: If ambient sounds are louder than the audio you're trying to hear, consider checking your environment for excessive noise that could be affecting your listening experience.
    6. Test with Different Applications: Try playing audio from different applications to see if the muffled sound persists across all of them. This can help determine if the issue is app-specific.
    7. Check Hardware: If possible, test your audio output with different speakers or headphones to rule out hardware issues.

If the problem continues after trying these steps, you may want to refer to additional resources or support for further assistance.
