Azure Synapse Pipeline hard limit

Hello Team,

This is something that I have asked the Azure Synapse community and would like to know if it is still the same or if things have changed.

We have a requirement to migrate multiple systems in to Synapse. We understand that the hard limit on the number of pipelines is 800. Can the number of pipelines be increased using a quota request or is this the hard limit?

Regards,

Param

    Hi Parameswaran Serussery Narayanan

It looks like you're curious about the limit on the number of Azure Synapse pipelines, and whether it can be increased through a quota request. As of now, the default hard limit for Synapse pipelines is indeed set at 800, and this limit is established to ensure workload stability across the Azure environment.

According to the relevant documentation, some default limits can be increased through customer requests. However, the specific limit for Synapse pipelines remains at 800. Unfortunately, it does not indicate that you can exceed this limit through a quota request like other limits might allow.

Here are some steps you can consider:

    1. Review the Azure Synapse Analytics Limits for more context on limits.
    2. To manage within this limit, think about optimizing your pipeline design—perhaps by consolidating related tasks into fewer pipelines if possible.
    3. If your scenario genuinely demands more than 800 pipelines, reaching out to Azure support might be beneficial to discuss specific needs and explore available options.

I hope this helps clarify things! If you have more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask!

The hard limit for the number of Synapse pipelines in a Synapse workspace is indeed 800. This is a set limit and cannot be increased through a quota request, as it is defined as a default limit for Azure Synapse Analytics. Therefore, you will need to manage your pipelines within this constraint.
