The online pictures in onenote have worked before, but now when I click on it the pop-up just goes white and doesn’t give me the search option. I’ve tried restarting and all the usual troubleshooting. What do I do?

    Dear @Alaynna Merali

First of all, I sincerely apologize for the delayed response. I’ve just returned from the holiday break and truly appreciate your understanding. On the occasion of the New Year, I would like to wish you a prosperous and successful 2026!

I’m really sorry for the trouble you’re experiencing with Online Pictures in OneNote on your iPad. I understand how frustrating it can be, especially since this feature was working for you before.

At this point, we’ve already tried all of the general troubleshooting steps, but unfortunately the issue is still occurring. I truly appreciate your patience while going through those steps with me.

As a temporary workaround, you can continue your studies by opening OneNote on the web and inserting Online Pictures there. This should allow you to keep working without interruption for now.

To help get this investigated further, I kindly recommend submitting feedback directly to Microsoft from the app (Help & Feedback) and include a brief description along with a screenshot. This feedback goes straight to the Microsoft Product Team, who have the tools needed to check whether there’s a current issue affecting OneNote on iPad.

If you’re using a school account, another option is to reach out to your IT admin and ask them to submit a support ticket through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. The Microsoft technical team can then investigate more deeply, and your IT admin can share your contact details so Microsoft can follow up with you directly if needed.

I sincerely apologize that I’m unable to investigate this further myself, as a forum moderator, I don’t have access to internal diagnostic tools and can only help with general troubleshooting. I really appreciate your understanding, and I hope this issue can be resolved for you soon.

Additionally, I’m not yet sure whether this issue is affecting many other users who are using the OneNote app on iPad. At the moment, I’ve checked Service Health and haven’t seen any related incidents reported.

If possible, I’d really appreciate it if you could consider accepting our conversation. This would help the post reach more users, and if others are experiencing the same issue, they can find this thread, become aware of the problem, and report it as well. Thank you very much for your support and understanding.

    Hello,

I’ve been using OneNote on my iPad. I just recently got a new iPad however the pictures were working on my other iPad. I tired logging in and out, disconnecting and reconnecting my internet connection, as well as deleting and reinstalling the app. I’ve checked for updates, both my IOS and the app and there was nothing. I do not know of other users encountering this issue. I don’t use any other device, like a laptop, and I use it on my iPad for handwritten notes. I would not know how to do the online repair step as it is on my iPad and not my laptop. The web app is working fine.

    Dear @Alaynna Merali

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Are you using the OneNote app or the web version? Have you tried checking OneNote on the web yet? Does it work normally there? (If OneNote web can insert normally, please help me temporarily use OneNote web.)

Do you have access to a different internet connection? If possible, please try inserting online pictures using a different connection.

Do you have another laptop? If so, please try using that laptop to see if the issue persists.

You mentioned it 'doesn’t give me the search option' - could you please take a screenshot for me? Thanks.

Have other users in the same organization encountered similar issues?

You said you have already done the usual troubleshooting; what specific steps have you taken?

    • Have you tried Sign out/in of Office yet?
    • Have you tried Update Office yet?
    • Have you tried an Online Repair yet? If not, please try following the instructions in this link. Repair an Office application - Microsoft Support
    • Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the app? If not, please give that a try.

Please help me by answering all of the questions above so I can determine the cause of the issue and provide the appropriate next steps.

    Looking forward to your reply!
