My passwords have been deleted by no reasons

I used Edge for a long time. Today, I want to login to a website that I use many times, but I discovered the password didn't show up, then I checked my account settings, and it's blank.

I don't know what's happening, so I updated the Edge version and logged out of my Edge account. Even though I tried to check my login Data and sync, it's not working.

The only thing I can do now is find websites that I recently used and save the passwords again, one by one, but obviously, I can't remember all the passwords; there are a lot of passwords I need to find are my university applications accounts.
What can I do? Any suggestions?

    Hi,

I get why you’re upset losing saved passwords, especially for important stuff like uni applications, really sucks.

This kind of thing usually happens because something messes up your browser profile, the sync settings are off, or an update glitches and moves your passwords but doesn't show them right.

First off, check your sync setup. In Edge, go to Settings, then Profiles, and then Sync. Make sure Passwords is turned on. After that, try Re-sync data to this device. If that doesn't do the trick, you can reset sync completely by picking Reset sync. This wipes the data in the cloud and makes Edge re-download everything from what you have now.

Also, double-check that you’re logged into the right Microsoft account and profile. If you have another device where Edge is logged in and things were working before, it might still have your passwords. Disconnect it from the internet and export your passwords by going to Settings, then Passwords, and then Export passwords.

You can also grab passwords stored on your computer through Windows Credential Manager. Just open it from the Start menu, head to Web Credentials, and then show the passwords by clicking Show and typing in your Windows password.

If none of that helps, try this Firefox trick: install Firefox, copy your passwords from Edge into it, and then copy them back to Edge.

If your password vault is truly gone, you’ll have to use the Forgot password thing on the sites where you need them. Looking ahead, think about using a password manager to stop this from happening again.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Noel

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your saved passwords in Microsoft Edge. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially recover your passwords:

    1. Check Sync Settings: Ensure that your sync settings are correctly configured. Go to Settings > Profiles > Sync and verify that the option for syncing passwords is enabled.
    2. Resync Data: You can try to resync your data by going to Settings > Profiles > Sync and selecting Re-sync data to this device. If that doesn't work, you might want to try Reset sync to see if that resolves the issue.
    3. Check for Identity Issues: Sometimes, identity issues can be confused with sync issues. Make sure you are signed into the browser with a valid account. You can check for any identity errors by navigating to edge://sync-internals.
    4. Password Recovery: If you cannot recover your passwords through the above methods, you may need to reset your passwords on the websites you frequently use. If you have any password recovery options available on those sites, consider using them.
    5. Backup Passwords: In the future, consider using a password manager to store your passwords securely. This can help you avoid losing access to them if issues arise with your browser.

If the problem persists, you may want to consult Microsoft support for further assistance.
