Microsoft stopped supporting windows 10 versions as of 10/14/2025. Just so happens on the same day there was supposedly update that caused a BitLocker glitch that now has locked me and others out of their devices. I never had a bitlocker recovery key. I have checked all of my Microsoft accounts and there is NO key. I ran the command prompt to try to get the key and THERE IS NO KEY!! I need to get into my computer WITHOUT losing all of my data. This is a poor update by Microsoft and it needs to be corrected immediately. People should not be faced with losing their data due to Microsoft's short-sightedness causing this bitlocker issue for a multitude of users. How can I access my data and use my device??

I have the same issue. I am dealing with a surface pro tablet that was purchased a long time ago with windows 10. Now after an update, its asking for a bitlocker key, which is not part of a microsoft account because the tablet was setup with a local account. Sadly, we are about to be in a serious winter storm and everyone is rushing to use this data to supply our customers...and now we cant. People will literally suffer loss of food because this has happened to this tablet...in a weather emergency. Microsoft caused the problem and now instead of fixing it, they are demanding users with this problem to reset the pc and lose all their data. When I do have to update our sales team...which may be imminent..i will be looking for options that do not use microsoft products. Not everyone can update, not everyone can afford to. This looks more like a purposeful glitch to force an update

The October update triggered a hardware/firmware change detection, which caused BitLocker to demand the recovery key.

Find your BitLocker recovery key
If you cannot find the key, the only option is to reinstall Windows, but it will erase data.
