I got the september update for Windows 11 a couple of days ago. Just noticed that the Copilot icon and sidebar is now gone from Edge, Version 140.0.3485.81.
I've had it disappear before but was able to get it back through the settings in Edge, but I haven't managed to get it back this time.
Absolutely huge downgrade if I can't get it back.

Hello Microsoft Support,
I’m having an issue with Copilot Chat in Microsoft Edge.
When I click the Copilot button or try to open Copilot Chat, I get the message:
“It’s not you, it’s me. Something went wrong. I probably just need time to refresh.”
Clicking “Try again” does not fix the problem.
I have important ongoing Copilot chat conversations and I do not want to lose them. I am looking for a way to restore Copilot Chat in Edge without resetting or deleting my Copilot history.

In this case, it is also highly suggested to send a feedback to the team that is working on Edge for them to be aware of this and hopefully a fix will be applied soon on the next update and you can provide a feedback from the browser itself by clicking on the 3 dots > Help and feedback > Send feedback.

Hello, good day and thanks for your question. Please check and test as well if this is also happening in Beta, Canary or Dev builds that you can download and install separately and see how it goes. Also, the link for the Copilot settings is under edge://settings/appearance/copilotAndSidebar.

Yeah nah, ain't gonna try beta or dev builds. Turns out this is an issue with how Microsoft handles accounts. Logging out from Edge, Copilot app and copilot.microsoft.com - yes, all three - brought back the Copilot sidebar for a while. Now it's gone again.
this is exactly my issue with this browser, and it is frustrating
