After updating to version 140, Edge will not remember my cookies exception in Clear browsing data on close. When I enter a website, Edge will not remember after reopening the app. All my cookies are lost and I have to re-login into every websites.User's image

    A temporary workaround:

Turning off "Site permissions" in the Clearing browsing data on close will preserve the entiries in the Do not clear list and website cookies. (Thanks to Lee Thacker and https://www.reddit.com/r/MicrosoftEdge/comments/1na0zln/cookie_sites_not_saving/).

I hope Microsoft will fix this problem soon.

    Hi!

It is more likely a bug under Edge ver140 and It has been acknowledged that Edge have a possible cookies retention issues, so a hotfix is likely coming in Ver141.

For now this is the circulating workaround.

    1. Re-add your sites in Site Permissions
    • Open MS Edge and go run this on the address bar: > edge://settings/content/cookies
    • Under Customized cookies behavior
    • Add the website under "Allowed to save cookies"
    • Test again.
    1. Turn off “Clear cookies and site data when you close all windows” (temporarily)
    • Go to edge://settings/clearBrowsingDataOnClose

Toggle Cookies and other site data → OFF.

This prevents automatic wipe until the bug is patched.

    Things are still broke :-(

On my laptop I noticed that the settings above 'Cookies and other site data' were selected (on)

    -Browsing history

    -Download history

The settings below 'Cookies and other site data setting are not selected (off)

    -Cached images and files

    -Passwords

-Autofill form data (includes forms and cards)

    -Site permissions

Whereas on my desktop all were set on, so on my desktop as a test I started to change the options one at a time to match my laptop.

I disabled 'Cached images and files' closed and re-opened the browser, this broke things!

All of my cookies got cleared and the options randomly changed to:

    Off - Browsing history

    Off - Download history

Off - Cookies and other site data setting

Off - Cached images and files

    On - Passwords

On - Autofill form data (includes forms and cards)

    On - Site permissions

    Test 2:

Configured my desktop as per the settings on my laptop with 'Cookies and other site data setting' enabled with a few 'Don't Clear' entries.

All settings above 'Cookies and other site data setting' Enabled and all settings below 'Disabled'

In this configuration things operate in the same way as my laptop where sites are still listed on browser restart and specified cookies are not cleared
