Hotmail email settings periodically asking for password, but correct working with ios Mail app.

My older hotmail account is setup as exchange in the iphone mail app and the server settings stop working. Is there another server setting, as now I am using eas.outlook.com? I tried mail.outlook.com and also with imap and it didn't work.

I re-entered my password (which is correct), but I still get the pop up asking for the password.Is there a solution to retain my sent email if i need to re-install the account/

You need to add the account as a Microsoft Exchange account. You can't add the account to Outlook as an IMAP (or pop) account since last fall.

Your sent mail should be synced to the server. Log into outlook.com in a browser and check the sent folder to verify.

What version of Outlook are you using? The really old versions may not work with Exchange online as it now requires oAuth2.
