Managing tabs, address bar, and search settings in Edge on Windows 10

Hello! Deeply frustrating issue. My work computer uses Microsoft Edge, which I do not enjoy for one glaring reason. Whenever I open a new tab, and type into the url bar to open a site, or search for a phrase, it will take time to load due to my work internet. I will return to my other tab in use, filling out data, and...gone. Tab A, opened to whatever site I was using, has been overridden with whatever search results I entered into tab B. What is the use of this feature and how can I get rid of it?
Managing tabs, address bar, and search settings in Edge on Windows 10
Hi Frankie, this is Kimberly, an independent advisor. I'm glad to assist you today.
What you’re seeing is not a feature, it's likely a bug or misconfiguration.
A rogue extension might be intercepting input or tabs.
Go to edge://extensions
Disable all extensions temporarily
Restart Edge and see if the problem persists
If it stops, re-enable one by one to find the culprit
If none of the extensions are affecting it, disable Tab Grouping or Sleeping.
Go to edge://settings/system
Disable:
"Save resources with sleeping tabs"
Then go to edge://flags
Search for "Tab groups", "Tab hover cards", or anything with "tab override"
Set them to "Disabled"
Should you have more questions, please let me know.
Best regards,
Kimberly
