Regarding the "Data Types" feature (which includes functionalities like Stocks and Geography data types), this was introduced with Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) and is not available in perpetual license versions like Office 2016.

Therefore, to gain access to the "Data Types" feature, you would need to subscribe to Microsoft 365.

Consider what geographic data you need. The United States Postal Service does provide a dataset with latitude and longitude of their post office buildings (both the middle of the building and the street access point, apparently), but they charge $4000 for that dataset.

OTOH, if you can be satisfied with geographic points at the centroid (center) of the ZIP Code Tabulation Areas, that data* is available for free (attribution is required) from Pareto Software at their simplemaps.com website: US Zip Codes Database

• (for over 33,000 ZIP Codes; some other ZIP Codes do not have Tabulation Areas; see the Frequently Asked Questions on that webpage for more information)

First, you need a dataset that contains ZIP codes, latitudes, and longitudes. Since you don't have this data yet, this is the most critical step.

Find a Data Source: The web is commented above is a great free option (it requires attribution). Go to their website and search for "US Zip Codes Database". Download the free data file, which is usually a .zip file containing a .csv file.

1.Open the Data in Excel:

• Unzip the file and open the .csv file in Excel.
• You'll see a table with many columns. The most important columns for you are zip, lat (latitude), and lng (longitude).
• Save this file or create a new sheet within your working Excel file to store this data. For this guide, we'll assume the sheet containing this data is named Data.

2. Enter Formulas for Lookup and Calculation

Calculate Latitude and Longtitude Formulas by using VLOOKUP=(lookup_value, table_array, col_index_num, [range_lookup]) (If you download the file and copy it to a next sheet to your data's sheet)

3.Distance Formula:

Enter the following Haversine formula:

=2 * D2 * ASIN(SQRT(POWER(SIN(RADIANS(C3-B3)/2), 2) + COS(RADIANS(B3)) * COS(RADIANS(C3)) * POWER(SIN(RADIANS(C4-B4)/2), 2)))

The number 6371 is the mean radius of the Earth, in kilometers (km).

If you want the distance result in miles, you would replace this number with 3959.
