A family of Microsoft products that enable users to capture, organize, and reuse notes electronically.
Dear Alumni,
Good day! Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Support Community. I understand how important it is to preserve your OneNote notebooks, especially after using your school account for many years. I’m here to guide you through the process step by step so you can securely download and save your content before your email access ends.
1. Sign In with Your School Account
- Open the OneNote app.
- Sign in using your school email address and password.
- Wait for your notebooks to sync completely. This ensures all your latest notes are included.
2. Install the OneNote App (if you haven’t already)
- Open the Microsoft Store on your Windows computer.
- Search for OneNote.
- Click Install or Get to download the app.
3. Using OneNote Desktop App (Recommended for Windows Users)
- Open the OneNote desktop app on your Windows computer.
- Sign in using your school account credentials.
- Navigate to the notebook you want to save.
- Click on File in the top menu.
- Select Export.
- Choose Notebook as the export type.
- Select OneNote Package (*.onepkg) as the format.
- Click Export and choose a location on your computer to save the file.
This method creates a backup file that you can later import into your personal OneNote account.
This is a quick way to download entire notebooks without needing the desktop app.
- Make sure your notebooks are fully synced before exporting to avoid missing any recent updates.
- If you’re using Windows 10 or 11, you can download the latest OneNote app from the Microsoft Store for full export functionality.
- You can also export notebooks as PDFs for easy offline access.
If you need help with any of these steps or run into issues, feel free to reply to this email. I’ll be happy to assist you further.
Warm regards,
