Windows NT 4.0 domain join is not supported with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

Windows® 7and Windows Server® 2008 R2computers cannot be joined to a Windows°NT® Server°4.0 SP6A domain.

Additional information

There are no workarounds for this behavior. This is by design as Windows°NT Server°4.0 is no longer supported. Attempting to join a Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 computer to an Windows°NT Server°4.0 domain will result in one or more of the following errors:

The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.

Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.
