A print queue is a representation of a print device (physical printer) in Microsoft Windows. Opening a print queue displays active print jobs and their status.
Aspects
The following is a list of all aspects that are part of this managed entity:
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
You can publish printer information to Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) so that users can search for printers by location or other attributes. Publishing a printer creates a PrintQueue object in AD DS as a child of the print server computer account. |
Properly configuring the print color profile enables color printers to print colors that closely match the ones that are displayed on the screen. |
Some drivers use a set of image processing filters. These filters "plug in" to the filter pipeline manager, which streams the image information. |
A print job is a file that contains data to be printed. |
Print processors are user-mode dynamic link libraries (DLLs) that are responsible for converting a print job's spooled data into a format that can be sent to a print monitor. They are also responsible for handling application requests to pause, resume, and cancel print jobs. |
The print queue status indicates the status and health of the print queue. |
Shared printer availability relates to whether shared printers are available on the network. When a printer is shared on the network, users with sufficient permissions can connect and print to the shared printer. |
