There are several steps in speech application design. The designer must:
- Clearly understand the application requirements.
- Provide task analysis and modeling.
- Provide a clear model of the call flow.
- Organize and design clear dialogues that reflect information gathered in analysis and modeling.
A design process provides structure and guidance through a project's life cycle that is milestone-based. iterative and flexible. The process model describes the phases, milestones, activities and deliverables of an application development project.
